Are You Unintentionally Creating a Barrier With Your Audience?
One of the main goals of Content Marketing is to foster relationships and open a dialogue with your audience. But, are you creating a wall between you and your readers without even realizing it?
You might be if you use phrases like “all of you,” “most of you” or other broad forms of acknowledgment that lump all of your readers into the same group.
When you use all-inclusive generalizations like this, you are no longer talking one-on-one to a trusted friend and the tone of your copy becomes much less conversational and welcoming.
Fortunately, this is an easy writing mistake to fix – all you need to do is edit out those broad phrases and replace them with a more personalized option – like a simple “you.”
Yes, I am talking to “you” – not “all of you” or even “some of you.”
Simply read your content out loud to see if sounds like a conversation you would have with a friend. If so, you are heading in the right direction!
