Yesterday, I posted the Action List for the 90-Day Content Marketing Challenge. Today, we’ll look at how this challenge will unfold.
When creating the Action List for the 90-Day Content Marketing Challenge, I incorporated many of the key elements of a full-fledged Content Marketing campaign: keyword research, increased on-site content (blog posts, articles, and product reviews), off-site content distribution (article marketing, email marketing and press releases) and social media utilization. Over the next several weeks, I will share specific details relating to each of these elements and offer suggestions on how to use them in your own Content Marketing efforts.
Starting tomorrow, I’ll begin a series of posts on Article Marketing. In these posts, I will share with you which directories I use, along with the criteria I used for selecting them. Also, I’ll talk about how to research and write your articles more efficiently, plus provide tips to optimize your work with keywords and phrases for search engine placement. (Check out this series of posts for more on keyword research).
Please let us know how you are doing – did you update your blog yesterday? Start working on for your articles for this week? Keep me posted!
Til Next Time,
P.S. If you are new to keyword research, you might want to get your feet wet with Wordtracker’s free suggestion tool. If you are looking for a more robust keyword research tool without ongoing fees, take a look at MicroNiche Finder. I personally use it and really love how its Strength of Competition feature clearly spells out which words and phrases I should target.

Following along has me motivated to create my own publishing schedule. I love that you are focused on both on-site content and off-site content distribution.
And yes – I blogged yesterday, updated several pages on my website, and had two PDF files created, with two more in process.
Loving the series, Trish!
this strategy seems more geared toward a traditional site — not one largely based on dynamic user-generated content and social media technologies which can greatly limit your control. Can you add UGC differences throughout your 90 days??
Since my computer and I have been going round and round on which of us works and which doesn’t and when, I’ve finally been able to be online (and at SSWT) where I found your link to this site and your challenge.
What great impetus for someone to get motivated (by following along with you) and to make significant progress to boot.
It’s like when I was a kid and went to the neighbor’s house and helped with the dishes because it was more fun. So, too, here. Following along with you will be “more fun” and the end result will be I’ll get my own work done.
Win-win!
I agree with Karen – much more fun to do this together. I’ve had a publishing schedule for a while. I haven’t exactly followed it…especially during the summer.
Having this accountability is great. I’m only doing this for one site, but I did blog yesterday and today. AND I wrote and submitted my article today.
What’s next, boss?!
I’m so glad this is helping everyone develop and stick to their own publishing schedules. I think the best thing I’ve done is write out a list of everything single thing I need to get done by the end of this week to stay on track – the checklist is working great!
Also finding the more I research – and write – the more ideas I’m coming up with. If only I could get it all out here as fast as I can think of it!
Working on lots of articles to add to the Toolbox (under the “DIY SEO” tab)- stuff I think will really help you with your article marketing efforts. (Just posted an article re: how to use Google’s Wonder Wheel Tool as a way to brainstorm article ideas).
