7 Great Ways to Repurpose Content

by Trish Lindemood on October 7, 2010

For the next few weeks of the 90-Day Content Marketing Challenge, we’re going to focus on how to get the most mileage from your content creation efforts. The goal, of course, is to create a bigger footprint online – and to help you reach a wider audience.

Here are 7 Great Ways to Repurpose Content

1. Transform a single text article or blog post into multiple new text articles/posts. Original content organized into bullets or numbered lists (like this post) is perfect for this. (To demonstrate: over the next few weeks, each of these tips will be expanded upon to create full-length blog posts with examples).

2. Record a text article or blog post to create an audio file.

3. Convert a text article or blog post into a PowerPoint presentation. (If you don’t have Microsoft PowerPoint, OpenOffice.org offers a free alternative called Impress).

4. Combine your PowerPoint and audio presentations into video.

5. Combine a series of related blog posts or articles into a short report or eBook. You can then sell it or use it as an incentive report to encourage email sign ups. For even more mileage, make it rebrandable to create a powerful viral marketing tool.

6. Take apart an existing eBook or short report (as long as you have the rights to do so – PLR is perfect is for this) – and create a series of individual blog posts. (Best to keep this on your own site if you are starting with content you didn’t create yourself – if you publish something to an article directory or use it as a guest blog post, you want to make sure you have full and exclusive rights to that material).

7. Create an email autoresponder series (or eCourse) from a related series of articles, posts, short reports or eBook.

As we work through these 7 ways to repurpose content, I’ll share some of my favorite tips, tools and ideas to help you generate and share great material – regardless of which formats you use.
