Blogging on WordPress? PLR Articles Save Time & Drive Traffic

by Trish Lindemood

Okay, so this claim isn’t strictly limited to WordPress. PLR Articles can save you a lot of time AND drive traffic no matter what type of site or blog you have.

PLR (private label rights) content is an inexpensive way to leverage someone else’s time and energy to build your online business. In fact, reading PLR articles is my personal favorite brainstorming tip because it helps me come up with a lot of fresh ideas for my own unique content quickly.

2 Tips to Get The Most Value From the PLR You Buy:

  1. Store It Where You Can Find It. Otherwise, you’ll forget you even have it and next thing you know, you’ll have a hard drive full of your hard-earned dollars just sitting there. (Trust me on this one). In fact, wasting money on PLR I never got around to using was the main reason I developed my “MONETIZE THIS!” computer filing system.
    .
  2. Change It Up Before You Publish It. I don’t think there is a lot of value in publishing private label rights articles (and other forms of PLR content) “as is.” On one hand, it does provide a fast way to add “new” content to your site – but it won’t have your unique “flavor” added to it. If someone is following your blog, it is because there is something about what YOU have to say – not just what you say, but how you say it – that resonates with them. In other words, they want to hear from YOU – and posting PLR content “as is” runs counter to that.

Obviously, this applies when the site in question is your “hub” or personality site (like WebCopyResults.com is for me) – and has your name attached to it. On my other sites (which don’t have my name attached to them), this is less of an issue. However, even then I don’t publish PLR “as is” – mostly because it doesn’t provide any benefit from an SEO standpoint.

At the bare minimum, I recommend doing some keyword research, changing the title to include your keyword or phrase, and completely rewriting the first paragraph. I also tend to break up the main points into bullets or numbered lists because I find that works better online than long stretches of plain text.

Next week, we’re going to focus on how to re-purpose content (both what you’ve created  and PLR) into different formats. But first, it is time for our first monthly status update for the 90-Day Content Marketing Challenge – so, tomorrow we’ll take a look at September’s results!

Til Next Time,

PS I originally planned to offer suggestions on other PLR providers (outside my own sites – FinancialPLR.com and PLRConnection.com – of course!) :) in today’s post – but have decided to hold off until I can put together full reviews.

In the meantime, one provider I have had consistently good results with is Nicole Dean’s EasyPLR. (Her stuff is well written and she has a great inventory on a wide range of niches).

Hmmm… I have no idea why that would be? This comment seems to have come through okay.
